I knew a consultant for a multinational HR firm who said his company was trying to promote the idea that young people prefer flexible jobs and gigs to permanent jobs. He said the findings were manipulated and young people just want stable jobs like anyone else.

It strikes me that the North American boomer and to a lesser extent Gen X were the last generations who could rely on society to work as advertised, where you could just graduate and apply for a job and start a life.

We are devolving to a state where young people need someone working behind the scenes for them to get anywhere, and you always have to figure out who is lying and trying to exploit you. It’s a tiring way to live.

I didn't expect to read your post in full on account of its length, and yet I read and enjoyed it. It's interesting. Thank you.
